About the M4A1-S | Nightmare
The M4A1-S | Nightmare is a Classified rifle skin from The Horizon Collection. It was released in CS:GO in August 2018 with the Horizon Case, and it is still available in CS2.
Its dark, horror-themed artwork gives the silenced rifle a look that stands apart from the cleaner M4A1-S designs, and as a Classified skin from a weapon case it sits below the Covert M4A1-S skins in price. That makes it a popular pick for players who want a striking M4A1-S without the cost of a top-rarity skin.
The wear tabs at the top of this page show the current M4A1-S Nightmare price for each condition.
Design
The middle of the rifle shows a black demon head that looks like a dead horse, in what the in-game description calls a frightening nocturnal visitor, with blue crystals spread across the rest of the weapon. The colors on this page break down as mostly cyan, with grey and blue.
The design is the same on every copy. There is no pattern to check, so the look of a particular Nightmare comes down to its wear.
How to Get the M4A1-S | Nightmare
There are three ways to get a Nightmare in CS2.
- Buy it from a marketplace. This is the route most players take, because it lets you pick the exact wear and float. The offers at the top of this page show every marketplace with a listing.
- Open a case. The M4A1-S | Nightmare drops from the Horizon Case. Classified skins drop at around 3.2% per case, shared between the three Classified skins in the case.
- Trade up to it. Ten Restricted skins from The Horizon Collection trade up into one of its three Classified skins: the Nightmare, the FAMAS | Eye of Athena, or the Sawed-Off | Devourer. The Restricted skins in the collection are the AWP | PAW, CZ75-Auto | Eco, G3SG1 | High Seas, MP7 | Powercore, and Nova | Toy Soldier.
Wear Conditions and Float
The Nightmare has a full float range from 0.00 to 1.00, so it exists in all five wear conditions: Factory New (FN), Minimal Wear (MW), Field-Tested (FT), Well-Worn (WW), and Battle-Scarred (BS).
The first small scratches appear at Minimal Wear. Near the top of the range the whole body is heavily scratched and the remaining paint looks noticeably darker. Use the 3D inspect tool on this page to see how a given wear looks before you buy.
Switch between conditions using the tabs above. Each one has its own listings and price history.
Variants
The M4A1-S | Nightmare comes in a standard version and a StatTrak™ version, which counts your kills with the weapon. Pricempire lists each version separately, so you can compare them using the toggle above.
What Drives the Price of the M4A1-S | Nightmare
- Wear. Condition is the biggest factor. Factory New and Minimal Wear copies sit well above worn ones.
- Float within a condition. A low float inside any wear bracket usually carries a premium.
- StatTrak™. The StatTrak™ version is scarcer than the standard one and priced separately.
- Rarity. As a Classified skin it drops more often than Covert skins, which keeps it more affordable than the top M4A1-S skins.
- Demand for the M4A1-S. The silenced rifle is one of the two main CT-side rifles, which keeps steady interest in its skins.
- Applied stickers. Rare or well-placed stickers can add value that standard price data does not show.
Compare the offers above before you buy or sell, and set a price alert if you are waiting for a particular level.
