About the Classic Knife | Fade
The Classic Knife | Fade is a Covert knife skin that pairs the oldest knife design in Counter-Strike with one of its most famous finishes. It was released in CS:GO in October 2019 with the CS20 Case, which marked twenty years of Counter-Strike, and it is still one of the most popular Classic Knife skins in CS2.
The Classic Knife is a remake of the knife from the original Counter-Strike, so it carries a lot of nostalgia for long-time players. Only one case has ever dropped it, which keeps supply limited.
The wear tabs at the top of this page show the current Classic Knife Fade price for each condition.
Design
The Fade is made by airbrushing translucent paints that fade into each other over a chrome base. On the Classic Knife the gradient of purple, pink, and yellow covers the blade, while the guard and handle are left unpainted. The colors on this page break down as a mix of orange, red, pink, and grey.
No two Fades look exactly alike. The pattern decides how much purple reaches the blade. Copies with the most purple are known as Full Fades or 100% Fades, and they are the most wanted.
How to Get the Classic Knife | Fade
There are three ways to get a Classic Knife | Fade in CS2.
- Buy it from a marketplace. This is the only route that lets you choose the fade, which makes it the route almost every buyer takes. The offers at the top of this page show every marketplace with a listing.
- Open a case. The Classic Knife | Fade drops only from the CS20 Case. Knife drops are rare, at around 0.26% per case, and the finish you get is random.
- Trade up to it. Since October 2025, a trade-up contract using Covert skins can produce a knife from an eligible case. The finish is still random.
Wear Conditions and Float
The Classic Knife | Fade has a float range from 0.00 to 0.08, so it only exists in two wear conditions: Factory New (FN) and Minimal Wear (MW). There is no Field-Tested, Well-Worn, or Battle-Scarred version.
Wear barely shows on most copies. Near the top of the range, small scratches appear on the spine and cutting edge. Most copies are Factory New, and Minimal Wear covers only 0.07 to 0.08.
Switch between the two conditions using the tabs above. Each one has its own listings and price history.
Variants
The Classic Knife | Fade comes in a standard version and a StatTrak™ version, which counts your kills with the knife. Pricempire lists each version separately, so you can compare them using the toggle above. There is no Souvenir version.
What Drives the Price of the Classic Knife | Fade
- Fade percentage. Full Fades with the most purple carry a clear premium over lower-fade copies.
- Float. With only two conditions, the exact float matters more than the wear name, and the lowest floats are worth more.
- StatTrak™. The StatTrak™ version is scarcer than the standard one and priced separately.
- Case supply. The CS20 Case is opened far less than current cases, so few new copies enter the market.
- Demand for the Classic Knife. It is a nostalgia pick rather than a top-tier model like the Karambit or Butterfly Knife, which usually keeps its finishes more affordable.
