About the Shadow Daggers
The Shadow Daggers are a pair of push daggers and one of the most distinctive knives in CS2. They were added to CS:GO in September 2015 with the Shadow Case, and they are still the only knife in the game that comes as a pair.
They are also one of the most affordable knives in the game, which makes them a popular first knife for players who want the gold-star rarity without the price of a Karambit or Butterfly Knife. This page covers the vanilla Shadow Daggers, the version with no finish applied.
The tabs at the top of this page show the current Shadow Daggers price for the standard and StatTrak™ versions.
Design
Each dagger has a short blade set at a right angle to a T-shaped grip, so it is held in the fist and used with a punching motion. The design is believed to be based on a real tactical push dagger. The vanilla version keeps the plain steel blade and dark grip, and the colors on this page break down as almost entirely grey.
With no finish there is no pattern or float to check, so every vanilla copy looks the same.
How to Get the Shadow Daggers
There are three ways to get Shadow Daggers in CS2.
- Buy them from a marketplace. This is the route most players take, because it lets you pick the exact finish you want. The offers at the top of this page show every marketplace with a listing.
- Open a case. The vanilla Shadow Daggers drop from the Shadow Case. Other finishes come from the Spectrum, Spectrum 2, Dreams & Nightmares, and Operation Riptide cases. Knife drops are rare, at around 0.26% per case, and the finish you get is random.
- Trade up to them. Since October 2025, a trade-up contract using Covert skins can produce a knife from an eligible case. The finish is still random.
Shadow Daggers Finishes
The Shadow Daggers come in every major knife finish, and Pricempire lists each one on its own page.
- The original Shadow Case finishes. The Fade, Case Hardened, Slaughter, Crimson Web, Blue Steel, and Night are the classic finishes, alongside camo finishes such as Safari Mesh and Urban Masked.
- The Chroma finishes. The Doppler, Marble Fade, Tiger Tooth, Damascus Steel, Ultraviolet, and Rust Coat come from the Spectrum cases.
- The newer finishes. The Gamma Doppler, Lore, Autotronic, Freehand, Black Laminate, and Bright Water come from the Dreams & Nightmares and Operation Riptide cases.
Browse all Shadow Daggers skins to compare every finish side by side.
Vanilla, Wear, and StatTrak™
The vanilla Shadow Daggers have no finish, so they have no float value and no wear condition. Every vanilla copy looks the same, which means the only choice is between the standard version and the StatTrak™ version, which counts your kills with the knife.
Pricempire lists both versions separately, so you can compare them using the toggle above. Finished Shadow Daggers do have floats and wear conditions, which are shown on each finish's own page.
What Drives the Price of the Shadow Daggers
- Finish. The biggest factor across the range. Rare finishes such as the Doppler gem phases and the Gamma Doppler Emerald sit far above the vanilla and camo finishes.
- StatTrak™. The StatTrak™ vanilla is scarcer than the standard one and priced separately.
- The knife model. Push daggers are less popular than the Karambit, Butterfly Knife, or M9 Bayonet, which keeps the Shadow Daggers among the most affordable knives in the game.
- Case supply. The vanilla only drops from the Shadow Case, an older case that is opened far less than current ones.
Compare the offers above before you buy or sell, and set a price alert if you are waiting for a particular level.

- Other affordable knives. The Gut Knife is the other common pick for a first knife.
- Other distinctive knife models. The Ursus Knife and Talon Knife are other models with a look of their own.
- Top-tier knives. The Butterfly Knife and M9 Bayonet are the knives most players work up to.
- Same case. The USP-S | Kill Confirmed and M4A1-S | Golden Coil are the Covert guns from the Shadow Case.
