About the Butterfly Knife | Doppler
The Butterfly Knife | Doppler is one of the most sought-after knives in CS2. It was added to CS:GO in March 2017 with the Spectrum Case, which brought the Chroma finishes to the Butterfly Knife for the first time.
It combines the most popular knife animations in the game with the Doppler finish, a metallic candy-paint effect that comes in seven phases. Each phase has its own colors and its own price, from the common Phase 1 to the rare Ruby, Sapphire, and Black Pearl.
This page covers the Butterfly Knife Doppler as a whole. Each phase also has its own page with its own listings, linked below. The wear tabs at the top of this page show the current price for each condition.
Design
The Doppler finish uses candy-apple paint over a chrome base, so the blade shines and shifts color as it moves. On the Butterfly Knife, the finish covers the blade, and the split handle shows the knife's signature flip animation. The colors on this page break down as mostly blue, with black, grey, and cyan.
The look of any copy depends mainly on its phase. Within a phase, the exact pattern shifts the colors slightly from one knife to the next.
Butterfly Knife Doppler Phases
The Doppler comes in seven phases. Pricempire lists each one separately, so you can compare prices phase by phase.
- Phase 1. Mostly dark, with pink and purple patches.
- Phase 2. The most pink and purple of the regular phases, and the most searched-for.
- Phase 3. Green and blue tones.
- Phase 4. Mostly blue, sometimes with purple.
- Ruby. A solid red blade. One of the three rare gem phases.
- Sapphire. A solid blue blade. One of the rarest and most valuable phases.
- Black Pearl. A dark, near-black blade with purple and blue highlights. The third gem phase.
The gem phases are priced far above the regular ones, so always check which phase a listing is before you compare prices.
How to Get the Butterfly Knife | Doppler
There are three ways to get a Butterfly Knife | Doppler in CS2.
- Buy it from a marketplace. This is the only route that lets you choose the phase, which makes it the route almost every buyer takes. The offers at the top of this page show every marketplace with a listing.
- Open a case. The Butterfly Knife | Doppler drops from the Spectrum Case and the Spectrum 2 Case. Knife drops are rare, at around 0.26% per case, and the phase you get is random.
- Trade up to it. Since October 2025, a trade-up contract using Covert skins can produce a knife from an eligible case.
Wear Conditions and Float
The Butterfly Knife | Doppler has a float range from 0.00 to 0.08, so it only exists in two wear conditions: Factory New (FN) and Minimal Wear (MW). There is no Field-Tested, Well-Worn, or Battle-Scarred version.
Because the range is so tight, wear barely shows, and the phase matters far more than the float. Most copies are Factory New, and Minimal Wear covers only 0.07 to 0.08.
Switch between the two conditions using the tabs above. Each one has its own listings and price history.
Variants
The Butterfly Knife | Doppler comes in a standard version and a StatTrak™ version, which counts your kills with the knife. Pricempire lists each version separately. There is no Souvenir version.
What Drives the Price of the Butterfly Knife | Doppler
- Phase. The biggest factor by far. Ruby, Sapphire, and Black Pearl sit well above the regular phases, and among those, Phase 2 and Phase 4 usually carry a premium.
- Pattern within a phase. Some patterns show more of the most wanted colors, which can add value.
- Float. With only two conditions, the exact float matters more than the wear name.
- StatTrak™. The StatTrak™ version is scarcer than the standard one and priced separately.
- The Butterfly Knife itself. It is one of the most wanted knife models in CS2, which lifts every finish on it.
- Case supply. How often the Spectrum cases are opened decides how many new knives enter the market.
Compare the offers above before you buy or sell, and set a price alert if you are waiting for a particular level.
