About CS2 Assault Rifle Skins
CS2 assault rifle skins cover the seven rifles in Counter-Strike 2: the AK-47, M4A4, M4A1-S, Galil AR, FAMAS, SG 553, and AUG. Rifles are what you buy on a full buy round. They hit hard at every range, stay accurate over distance, and decide most rounds once both teams can afford them.
That makes them the weapons you hold more than any other. An AK-47 or M4 is in your hands for most of a match, on screen in every clip and in every kill feed. A rifle skin gets more use than a skin on anything else in your loadout.
That role shapes the market for assault rifle skins in CS2. Rifles have the deepest catalogs, the most recognizable finishes, and the widest spread of value in the game. AK skins and M4A4 skins in particular run from finishes almost anyone can afford to some of the most sought-after items in CS2.
The side you play matters here more than in any other class. Every assault rifle is locked to one team: three are Terrorist-side and four are Counter-Terrorist-side. This page gives you an overview of all seven and points you to the full skin list and live prices for each weapon.
Assault Rifle Types on Pricempire
Pricempire has a dedicated page for each of the seven assault rifles, showing every finish, wear condition, and real-time pricing. They are grouped here by the side that can buy them.
Terrorist-side
AK-47. The AK-47 is the Terrorist rifle and the most popular weapon in CS2 for skins. It kills with a single headshot at any range, even through a helmet, which is why it is bought on almost every Terrorist full buy. Its catalog is the largest of any rifle, with well-known finishes such as the Fire Serpent, Case Hardened, and Wild Lotus at the top and plenty of affordable options below them. See all AK-47 skins on Pricempire.
Galil AR. The Galil AR is the Terrorist budget rifle. It costs less in-game than the AK-47 and carries a larger magazine, so it is a common pick on force buys and when money is tight. Galil skins are some of the most affordable rifle skins in CS2, which makes it an easy weapon to kit out cheaply. Browse all Galil skins.
SG 553. The SG 553 is the scoped Terrorist rifle. It costs more in-game than the AK-47 and rewards players who hold angles at range. It is bought far less often than the AK, so most SG 553 skins sit in the lower price tiers, with a few rare collection finishes near the top. View SG 553 skins.
Counter-Terrorist-side
M4A4. The M4A4 is one of two main Counter-Terrorist rifles. It has a full-size magazine and a higher fire rate than the M4A1-S, which suits players who spray and hold sites against rushes. M4A4 skins include the Howl, the only Contraband skin in the game, alongside a wide range of finishes at every rarity. See all M4A4 skins on Pricempire.
M4A1-S. The M4A1-S is the silenced alternative to the M4A4. It has a smaller magazine and a quieter, more controllable spray. You equip one or the other in your loadout, so most players only need skins for the M4 they use. M4A1-S skins include some of the most valuable rifle finishes in CS2, such as the Knight and Hot Rod. Browse all M4A1-S skins.
FAMAS. The FAMAS is the Counter-Terrorist budget rifle and the counterpart to the Galil AR. It is cheaper in-game than either M4 and has a burst-fire mode for longer range. FAMAS skins mostly sit at the affordable end, with a handful of standout finishes above them. Explore FAMAS skins.
AUG. The AUG is the scoped Counter-Terrorist rifle and the counterpart to the SG 553. It costs more in-game than the M4s and is strongest when holding long angles. Its catalog includes several rare collection finishes, including the Akihabara Accept. Check AUG skins.
How Assault Rifle Finishes & Rarity Work
Assault rifle skins use the standard CS2 weapon rarity scale. From most common to rarest, the grades are Consumer Grade, Industrial Grade, Mil-Spec, Restricted, Classified, and Covert. Covert is the top tier for a rifle, with one exception: the M4A4 Howl is graded Contraband, a rarity no other skin holds.
Rarity tells you how often a skin drops from its case or collection. It is not a direct price ranking, because supply matters just as much. A lower-grade skin from a discontinued collection can be worth more than a Covert from a case that is still dropping, and many of the most valuable rifle skins come from older or limited collections.
Wear condition is the second factor. Every skin has a float value that places it in one of five conditions: Factory New, Minimal Wear, Field-Tested, Well-Worn, or Battle-Scarred. The float is set when the skin is created and never changes with use. Cleaner conditions usually cost more, though the gap between conditions varies a lot from one finish to the next, and not every finish exists in all five.
Two special variants add another layer:
StatTrak™ versions track your kills with that weapon. They are available on many rifle finishes that drop from weapon cases.
Souvenir versions come from tournament packages tied to map collections, and carry that event's stickers.
Pricempire lists each variant separately, so you can see how a StatTrak™ or Souvenir version is priced next to the standard one. Availability differs by finish, so check the individual skin page before you decide.
Pattern matters more on rifles than on most weapons. Finishes such as the AK-47 Case Hardened and the M4A1-S Fade vary from one copy to the next, and certain patterns are valued well above the rest. The individual weapon pages cover those in more detail.
Choosing an Assault Rifle
Start with the two rifles you buy most. For almost every player that is the AK-47 on Terrorist side and one of the M4s on Counter-Terrorist side. A skin on each covers both halves of a match and most of your full buy rounds.
Pick your M4 before you pick its skin. The M4A4 and M4A1-S share a loadout slot, so a skin on the one you do not equip never appears in-game. If you switch between them, it is worth having a skin on both.
After that, look at the rifles you fall back on. The Galil AR and FAMAS come out when money is short, and the SG 553 and AUG suit players who like a scope. Pick the ones you actually buy in matches.
Then set a budget. Assault rifle skins span every price tier:
Entry-level. Every rifle has plenty of low-cost finishes, and Galil AR, FAMAS, and SG 553 skins in particular sit mostly at the affordable end.
Mid-range. Classified and Covert finishes from recent cases, often with a StatTrak™ option, are where most players end up. The AK-47 and both M4s have the most choice here.
Chase-grade. The AK-47, M4A4, and M4A1-S have the widest spread, reaching up to rare collection and Souvenir finishes in clean wear conditions.
Wear is the easiest place to save. Many finishes look close to identical in Minimal Wear and Field-Tested, and the lower condition can cost noticeably less. Others scratch heavily as the float rises, so it is worth checking how a specific finish wears before you buy.
Once you have a weapon in mind, open its page to see every finish with live prices, then use the individual skin page to check each wear condition, variant, and price history.
Frequently Asked Questions
How many assault rifles are there in CS2?
There are seven assault rifles in CS2: the AK-47, M4A4, M4A1-S, Galil AR, FAMAS, SG 553, and AUG. Each one has its own page on Pricempire with every available finish.
What are the best assault rifle skins in CS2?
It depends on your taste and budget. The best AK skins and best M4A4 skins get the most attention because those weapons see the most play, and finishes such as the AK-47 Fire Serpent and M4A4 Howl are among the most recognizable in the game. Every rifle also has well-regarded finishes in the lower price tiers.
Which assault rifles are Terrorist-side and which are Counter-Terrorist-side?
The AK-47, Galil AR, and SG 553 are Terrorist-side only. The M4A4, M4A1-S, FAMAS, and AUG are Counter-Terrorist-side only. No assault rifle can be bought on both sides.
Should I buy an M4A4 or an M4A1-S skin?
Buy a skin for the M4 you play with. The two rifles share a loadout slot, so only the one you equip appears in your matches. Many players own a skin for each so they can switch without losing their look.
Are assault rifle skins more expensive than other weapon skins?
Generally, yes. Rifles are the most-used weapons in CS2, so demand for AK-47 and M4 skins is higher than for pistols, SMGs, or heavy weapons. There are still plenty of low-cost rifle finishes, especially for the Galil AR, FAMAS, and SG 553.
What is the highest rarity for an assault rifle skin?
Covert, with one exception. The M4A4 Howl is the only Contraband skin in CS2. Every other rifle skin follows the standard scale from Consumer Grade up to Covert.
Do assault rifle skins come in StatTrak™?
Many do. StatTrak™ is available on most rifle finishes that drop from weapon cases, while skins from map collections usually come in standard and Souvenir versions instead. The individual skin page on Pricempire shows which variants exist.
Where can I see all AK-47, M4A4, or M4A1-S skins in CS2?
Use the links in the Assault Rifle Types section above. Each weapon page lists all of that rifle's skins with real-time pricing across every wear condition.
