Understanding Liquidity Scores

Our Liquidity Score measures how easily a CS2 skin can be bought or sold in the market based on listing counts, price gaps, and market volume. Higher scores indicate better market depth and faster trading potential.

Liquidity Levels

90
Highly Liquid

Excellent market depth, easy to buy/sell quickly

70
Good Liquidity

Good trading activity, reasonable buy/sell times

50
Moderate Liquidity

Average market activity, may take time to trade

30
Low Liquidity

Limited market activity, patience required

10
Illiquid

Very limited market, difficult to trade

What is Market Liquidity?

Easy to Trade

Liquid skins can be bought or sold quickly without waiting days or weeks for a buyer/seller to appear.

Stable Prices

High liquidity means prices remain stable even when large trades occur, protecting your investment value.

Tight Spreads

The difference between buy and sell prices is small, meaning you lose less value when trading.

Special Liquidity Factors

Doppler Knife Bonus

Factory New Doppler knives (non-StatTrak™) receive a 20% liquidity bonus when they have high market activity. These premium items maintain consistent demand.

If Doppler FN with 30+ buff count: ×1.2 multiplier

Price Validation

We validate buy/sell price ratios to ensure data quality. Suspicious prices (buy orders exceeding sell prices by 5%+) are flagged as low liquidity.

If buy price > sell price × 1.05: Low liquidity

High-Tier Item Override

Expensive items like gloves and high-tier knives often don't sell on the Steam Market due to the $2,000 price limit. To prevent unfairly penalizing these items, we use Buff market data to estimate their liquidity when Steam volume is zero.

Override conditions:

  • Steam Market volume is 0
  • Buff buy/sell ratio is ≥ 85%
  • Buff listing count is ≥ 5

Override formula:

Steam Volume Score = min((buff_gap - 75) × 1.0 + (buff_count / 20) × 0.5, 25)
buff_gap: Buy/sell ratio contribution (up to ~15 pts)
buff_count: Listing count contribution (up to ~15 pts)

Frequently Asked Questions

What is skin liquidity?

Skin liquidity refers to how easily and quickly a CS2 skin can be bought or sold without significantly affecting its price. High liquidity means many buyers and sellers, stable prices, and quick transactions.

Why is liquidity important for CS2 trading?

High liquidity ensures you can sell your skins quickly at fair market prices. Low liquidity items may take longer to sell and might require significant price reductions to find buyers.

What makes a skin liquid?

Liquid skins typically have many active listings, small bid-ask spreads, high Steam market volume, and stable prices. Popular skins like AK-47 Redline or AWP Asiimov are examples of highly liquid items.

How often are liquidity scores updated?

Liquidity scores are recalculated regularly based on real-time market data including current listings, Steam market volume, and price movements across multiple marketplaces.

Why do expensive items show "N/A" for Steam Volume?

Steam Market has a $2,000 price limit, so high-tier items like expensive gloves and knives cannot be sold there. For these items, we use Buff market data (buy/sell ratio and listing count) to estimate liquidity instead. Items with ≥85% buff gap and ≥5 listings receive a calculated volume score based on their Buff market activity.

Why Liquidity Matters for Your CS2 Investments

Understanding liquidity is crucial for successful CS2 trading. Our Liquidity Score helps you identify which skins can be traded efficiently and which might tie up your capital for extended periods.

Benefits of Trading Liquid Skins:

  • Quick Cashouts: Convert skins to cash rapidly when needed
  • Better Prices: Competitive markets mean fairer prices
  • Lower Risk: Less chance of being stuck with declining assets
  • Trading Flexibility: Easy to adjust your portfolio
  • Price Stability: Less volatility in liquid markets

How to Use Liquidity Scores in Your Trading

For Quick Trades

Focus on skins with 70%+ liquidity scores for fast buying and selling. These items move quickly in the market.

For Investments

Consider 40-70% liquidity for medium-term holds. Balance potential returns with reasonable exit flexibility.

For Collectors

Low liquidity (below 40%) is acceptable for rare collectibles you plan to hold long-term.
