The first ever Counter-Strike 2 Major, PGL CS2 Major Copenhagen, features the best teams in action on the biggest stage. The tournament also has a substantial prize pool and serves as the start of a new era for the franchise. Here’s all you need to know about the CS2 Copenhagen Major including participating teams, format, match scores and more.
First ever CS2 Major
As the first ever CS2 Major, Copenhagen carries a lot of weight on its shoulders. The event will set the standard for every major going forward. And so far it has absolutely delivered. Whether it is the consequence of the shuffled up seeding that sees the #1 seed take on the #8 in the opener, or the strong level of favourites in general, the event has gone from strength to strength so far. And with the stunning collection of stars in the playoffs, this major has all the ingredients to blow the roof off the Royal Arena.
Elimination Stage Results
The Elimination Stage concluded on Sunday deciding the top 8 teams that will compete in the Royal Arena to crown the first ever CS2 champion. Utterly dominant showings from Team Spirit and MOUZ sent them through with a flawless record while their more experienced rivals had to scrape by. Here’s the final list of playoff teams:
- Team Spirit (3-0)
- MOUZ (3-0)
- Cloud9 (3-1)
- Eternal Fire (3-1)
- Vitality (3-1)
- G2 (3-2)
- FaZe (3-2)
- Natus Vincere (3-2)
Prizepool
The teams will be competing for their share of a $1.25 Million prize pool, the same as BLAST.tv Major Paris in 2023. The champion takes home the lion’s share of the prize pool, a whopping $500,000, while the rest is distributed amongst the other 23 participating teams.

Unlike the first two stages that employ the swiss format that gives teams 3 lives each to survive on, the playoffs put everything on the line.
The single elimination bracket will slowly roll through the weekend, culminating in the Grand Finals that will decide who lifts the first CS2 Major trophy.

NaVi won the PGL CS2 Major Championship!
After breezing past Eternal Fire and barely knocking out G2 in a 3-mapper, NaVi reached the Grand Finals with their star trio finally stepping up together. FaZe Clan narrowly took out tournament favorites Spirit and Vitality in razor’s edge 2-1s, with their superstar ropz being a surprising absence. That set the scene for an unlikely final for the first-ever CS2 Major.
The two teams started with a nail-biter on Ancient where FaZe’s punish pick failed to pan out as iM, b1t and jL all stepped up to carry the team to a 10-5 lead. FaZe was on the verge of a comeback but jL pulled off an incredible 1v3 to close the map out.
Moving over to Mirage, FaZe did a perfect mental reset. The team started off with a pistol loss but never looked back, steamrolling their way to a 10-2 lead. That did not change with the half switch as NaVi were shown off the server with a 13-2 loss.
Everything came down to Inferno where it was NaVi who popped off. NaVi stalwart b1t was the driving force as he led his team to a 9-3 half. The only FaZe rounds came off the back of a 1v3 5hp clutch from Frozen. NaVi were relentless and locked in the trophy with a 13-3 victory.
Interesting Statistics:
- NaVi is only the third organization to win multiple majors, joining Fnatic and Astralis.
- b1t is the only player to win both a CS:GO and CS2 Major
- b1t is the only remaining player from the PGL Stockholm winning NaVi
- b1t was the best player of the Grand Finals with a 1.52 rating
- jL is the event MVP with a 1.22 event rating across 18 maps
- jL is the first Lithuanian player to win a Major
- Aleksib is the first Finnish player to win a Major
- iM is the first Romanian player to win a Major
- w0nderful took 6 months to win his first Major with NaVi, compared to 6 years for s1mple
