Counter-Strike faced criticism from players for ages that the game didn’t innovate. It took until the release of a true competitor in the form of Riot Games’ Valorant for Valve to finally start introducing updates. First came basic QoL updates like the Crosshair Codes and gameplay updates like short matches introduced in CS:GO. Finally, with the introduction of CS2, major sweeping changes followed, making the game much easier and, in some ways, more enjoyable to play.
One of the bigger changes came as the ability to sell weapons in CS2. The feeling of losing a round just in the buy timer is now a thing of the past. You can now sell that misclicked M249 and purchase a proper AK47 that will let you lose the round when you inevitably dry peek an AWP.
How can you sell weapons in CS2?
The game makes it quite simple for you to sell your weapons in CS2. Here’s the steps you need to sell one:
- Press the B key to open the CS2 Buy Menu
- Click on a highlighted piece of equipment or weapon to purchase it
- Hover over the arrow icon that appears in the bottom left corner of the weapon's box
- Click on that arrow to initiate a refund and sell back the weapon
The weapon will immediately leave your inventory, the money will be refunded, and you’ll be free to purchase the weapon you need to win the upcoming round. Do note that you can only sell weapons in CS2 in the round they were bought. If you keep hold of a weapon through a round, you can’t sell it in the following one to get some extra funds.
This feature allows you to better grasp the economy and lets teams keep their buys in sync, giving them their best shot at winning every round.
